About
Growing up in a North African household, the importance of regular exfoliation was instilled in me from a young age. After all what use is there in using expensive body creams and nice smelling oils when there’s still a layer of dead skin on your body?
Later I came to the realisation that not everyone knows of the many benefits of regularly exfoliating the body. Sure, most of us knew early on about the importance of exfoliating the face once a week. First we started out with not so good facial scrubs (no names shall be mentioned but I think we probably all used the same bad facial scrub) until we eventually switched to chemical peels. But what about the body?
I will admit that even though traditional Moroccan body exfoliation has been part of my routine since I can remember, I did neglect it when I first moved to London many moons ago.
And let me tell you after about 6 months I did see a dramatic difference on my body - but unfortunately not for the better! I won’t bore you with the details but there’s a reason why the Kessa shower glove has been part of the Hammam rituals and at home shower routines in North Africa and Turkey for thousands of years.
Yes, through body exfoliation your skin can better absorb products and treatments you slather on your skin. But similar to a dry brush it also improves circulation and immensely contributes to healthy looking skin. The benefits are many, you can read about the benefits here.
Because of my passion about all things beauty, my long personal experience and my culture I want as many people as possible to benefit from this ancient beauty ritual and want everyone to get their glow on.
